At Protègèm, we are thrilled to mark a monumental milestone: our 21st year! As we reflect on our incredible journey, we take immense pride in the growth and achievements that have shaped us into the dance school we are today. From humble beginnings to performing on stages across the region, our 21 years have been filled with dedication, passion, and a love for dance that continues to inspire and empower our students.

A Dance School Born from Passion

Our story began 21 years ago, when Protègèm was founded with the simple vision of creating more regular opportunites for local talented performers to come together to celebrate the art of dance. Over the years, we’ve expanded our offerings and developed a reputation for nurturing talent, creativity, and confidence in every dancer who walks through our doors.

From ballet to contemporary, street dance to tap, Protègèm has always been about providing diverse dance training to suit every style and every dancer and nurture the individual. Our dedicated teachers, many of whom trained from at young age at Protégém, instill a deep love for dance while emphasizing technique, discipline, and performance excellence.

Milestones That Have Shaped Our Legacy

Over the past 21 years, we have achieved so much more than we could have imagined. Here are just a few of the significant milestones that have defined Protègèm's journey:

1. 20th Anniversary Show

   Our 20th anniversary show was a celebration of two decades of dance. It was a milestone to remember, filled with an array of performances, from preschool to seniors, and a sense of unity that only Protègèm can bring. We celebrated the hard work and talent of our students, as well as the growth and evolution of our school.

2. The Rotary Club Performance at Epsom Playhouse

   Performing for the Rotary Club at the prestigious Epsom Playhouse was a huge honor for us. Our students graced the stage showcasing their skill, dedication, and love for dance. They were well received by the audience, who even sang along!

3. Entering Dance Festivals in Claygate, Crawley, and Sussex for the First Time

   Stepping out of our comfort zone and participating in these renowned dance festivals marked a turning point for Protègèm. Our dancers not only showcased their talent but also gained invaluable experience and recognition in the broader dance community.

4. Xmas Recitals at the Downsend School Theatre

   We ended the year with our Xmas Recital. Our performances at Downsend School Theatre brought our community together again to enjoy the festive spirit and celebrate all the dancers had achieved with the presentation of their exam awards..

5. The Launch of the New Bourne Hall Café Performance

   Being invited to perform for the launch of the new Bourne Hall Café was an exciting opportunity. It was a perfect example of how Protègèm plays an active role in our local community, using dance to bring people together and brighten their day. We enjoyed the challenge of creating our piece to the theme of 'space'.

Looking Back, Moving Forward

As we celebrate this remarkable 21-year milestone, we’re filled with gratitude for all the students, parents, and teachers who have been a part of our journey. Your passion, commitment, and support have been essential in shaping Protègèm into the dance school it is today.

Looking ahead, we are more excited than ever for the future. With a full calendar of performances, competitions, and exams, and many more years sure to be just as thrilling and inspiring as the first. We will continue to evolve, innovate, and, most importantly, remain committed to our core values of nurturing talent, fostering creativity, and inspiring a love of dance in every student.
